Production volume in Russia in 2003 - 699,879 (AVTOVAZ) and 26,519 (RosLada) vehicles
(VAZ and Lada), and 3,263 pick-ups (VAZ VIS and VAZ). Under the agreement signed in May 1966, in February 1970 production
began of
the 2101
Zhiguli
VAZ under a license for the Fiat 124 (Italy 1966-77). The first model was manufactured until 1988, and the estate body
version of 2102 - in the years
1971-86. Then, six new basic models went
into production: Niva in 1977, Samara in 1984, 110 in 1996, Samara II in 1997, 2120 in 1997, and Kalina in 2004. In the
years 1970-2004 in Russia, the cars
were sold under the VAZ brand. For export since 1971, and in Russia since 2004, the vehicles have
been offered under the Lada brand. AVTOVAZ owns the following companies:
SeAZ, Bronto and VIS (since 2002 - 75% of the shares). Lada cars are assembled in
Ukraine (since 1999), Ecuador (2000-2004), Egypt (since 2002), Kazakhstan (since 2002) and Uruguay (2003-2004). In Russia,
RosLada in Siberia
started in
1998 the assembly of the 2106 Zhiguli (until 2002), in
1999 - of the Samara 21093, and in 2002 - of the 21043 Zhiguli (until 2003) and the 2107 Zhiguli. Since 2001, IZh-Avto
has been
producing the VAZ 2106 Zhiguli sedan and, since 2002, the VAZ 2104 Zhiguli station wagon. In June 2001, the AVTOVAZ
- GM partnership was founded which, since 2002, has been producing
the Niva II under the Chevrolet brand. Latest premieres: Moscow 2003 - 2170 sedan, Revolution, 2120 4x2, VIS 2348 Pickup and
prototype
of 1121
Oka 2; Moscow 2004 - Priora hatchback and
Siluet concept car. In July 2003, production of the Zhiguli 2104 was terminated, in October 2003 - of the Samara 2108, in
March 2004 - of the Samara 2109, and in December 2004 - of the Samara 21099. Plans for the
future: 2005
- Priora
station wagon (to be produced as of 2008); 2006 - 1120 minivan, 2116 sedan and a large 3116 sedan. In 2003, AVTOVAZ, RosLada,
Bronto, Lada Konsul, Lada Tool, Super-Avto, Spec Avto, VIS (pick-ups), SeAZ,
ZAZ (Ukraine), LuAZ (Ukraine), AvtoRus (Ukraine), KrASZ (Ukraine), Asia-Avto
(Kazakhstan), Suzuki Egypt, Oferol (Uruguay) and AYMESA (Ecuador) produced 773,057 VAZ, Lada and SeAZ
vehicles.
