Under the 1929 agreement between the Soviet
Union and Ford, in the years 1930-33 the KIM company (until 2002 - the Moskvich) produced
passenger Ford cars. In small amounts, Ford As have also been assembled since 1930 in Nizhny Novgorod
at the Gudok Oktiabria
plant. On 8 December 1932 at the new GAZ plant
in Nizhny Novgorod production of these cars was launched, already under the GAZ
A name. In 1936, the GAZ A was replaced with the original GAZ M1 model, which remained in
the program until 1943. In 2000, the RusPromAvto concern (which belongs to Siberian Aluminum) took over 19.9% of GAZ shares.
The
share was gradually increased. In 2005, the GAZ will start the assembly of the Mahindra

Cardi. In 2002, production of the 230810 Ataman Jermak and 2308 Ataman Pick-up
models was terminated. Combined with utility cars, the company produced in 2003 245,302 vehicles, also
assembled in Ukraine and Lithuania (since 2000 - the Gazel delivery trucks).
