In 2002 Suzuki acquired 14,9% of GM Daewoo shares, which has
produced vehicles also under the Suzuki trademark for the US and Canadian
markets since 2003. The debutes of the following sedans took place at the 2003 Chicago Motor Show:
the Forenza with a 2.0-liter 119 hp engine (an equivalent of the Daewoo Lacetti sedan)
and Verona featuring a 2.5-liter 155 hp unit (a Daewoo Magnus counterpart). In November 2003 sales of the Swift+-
hatchback were
launched with a 1.6-liter
103 hp engine on the
basis of the Daewoo Kalos. At the 2004 Detroit Motor Show, the Reno hatchback
premiered, a vehicle styled after the Daewoo Lacetti and fitted with a
2.0-liter 126 hp power plant. Based on the Daewoo Lacetti SW and housing a 2.0-liter 126 hp engine, the
Forenza Wagon debuted at the New York Motor Show in 2004.
