Production volume in 2003 - 6,461 passenger vehicles.
In 1969 the assembly of Nissan vehicles began in
Indonesia by PT Indokaya. In 1983 production was taken over by PT Ismac, which has belonged
to the Indomobil Group since 1987. Nissan acquired 35% of PT Ismac shares and changed
the firm’s name to PT Ismac Nissan. That
share was increased to 75% in 2001 and followed by another name change - this time to Nissan
Motor Indonesia. Since the mid-90s Indonesia has rolled out the Terrano SUV
(=Japanese Terrano 1986-95) with a 2.4-liter 118 hp engine and, starting in 2003, the X-Trail SUV with a
2.0-liter 110 unit.
