In 1969
the
assembly and subsequent production of Daihatsu vehicles was initiated by this
firm. Made since 2001, the Ceria hatchback was replaced in 2003 by a restyled Ceria model based
on the 2002
KX-P
prototype. This 4-seater vehicle comes equipped with a 837-ccm 37 hp engine. In
December 2003
the
production of a small, 7-seater Xenia minivan began, incorporating the1
.0-liter 57
hp and
1.3-liter 86 hp power plants of its twin, the Toyota Avenza. Introduced in 1995, the 7 /9-seater Zebra
minivan, housing a 1.3-liter
75 hp or 1.5-liter 82 hp unit, is only
built in Indonesia. In March 1999 the original, 7-seater Taruna 4x4 SUV debuted with a 1.5-liter 86 hp engine (the F
Series is 25 cm longer than C Series vehicles). The all-terrain, 3-door Rocky 4x4 with a 2.8-liter 76 hp diesel power
plant
and the Taft GT (previously known as the Feroza)
4x4, equipped with a
2.8-liter 76 hp engine, also sport the body of the Japanese Rocky. Also on offer are:
the original, 5-door, 6 /9-seater 4x4 station wagon; the Taft Hiline GTL with a
2.8-liter 76 hp diesel unit and the Hiline Pick-up (2.8-liter 7 6hp) based on the
Rocky / Taft.
