FORMOSA MAGNUS
Program: Magnus, Matiz II.
Production volume in 2003 - 8,130 vehicles. The
Formosa concern took over the Sanfu’s manufacturing
plant in March 2000, where Renault and Isuzu cars were assembled in 1983-99. The newly
established branch of Formosa Automobile Corp. bought a license from Daewoo
for Magnus sedan production. The vehicle, christened the Formosa FPG1, was first presented
in summer 2000 and has been produced since February 2001 under the Magnus name. It is
available with either
a 2.0-liter 148 hp or 2.5-liter engine. In
March 2002,
the
Matiz II, equipped with 796-ccm 51 hp or 995-ccm units, was launched. The company plans
to start the production of an electric FPG2 vehicle.
